Description

A step-by-step guide to drafting a set-in sleeve from your own measurements. The frame is drawn first, then the cap is shaped and the sleeve is tapered, with a diagram at each stage.

What you need
  • Your sleeve length, from the underarm to the wrist
  • Your bicep circumference
  • Your back and front armhole measurements
  • Paper and a ruler
  • A curve for the sleeve cap
How it works

Part 1 builds the frame from your sleeve length and bicep. It sets the cap height and the elbow line, then angles a line from the top of the cap to each underarm point, using your armhole measurements.

Part 2 shapes the cap through marks along those two lines, then brings the sides in by 2⅛″ to 2½″ each to taper the sleeve to the wrist.
