Key details
- The strap slider is a haberdashery trip most buyers will not expect from a knit top. The two straps meet at it behind the neck, one stitched to it permanently and the other running through and held by friction. That is the only adjustment the top has.
- The two front panels are not a mirrored pair. Front right is the long one and runs all the way to the hem. Front left is 12 to 14 cm shorter and stops just below the waist, where the long panel has already wrapped across the whole front. It is deliberate, not a misprint.
- Six gathered sections, each with a printed finished length. Both armhole edges gather from 11 cm down to 5 cm, both front side edges from 13 cm down to 7 cm, and both back side seams from 6.8 cm down to 5 cm. Every section is bounded by notches, and you gather between the marks and never past them.
- Nothing else on this top is gathered, pleated or eased.
- Nothing is folded and nothing is symmetrical. Single layer, right side up, every pattern piece printed side up. A piece laid face down gives you two lefts.
- Pick your size on the hem, not the bust. The wrap looks after the bust by itself and the slider sets the strap length, so the hem, which sits at the top of your hip, is the measurement that has to be right.
- The strap is 21.7 cm on every size. It does not grade.
- This is the largest print job in the range. The A0 runs to two sheets and the tiled file to 41 pages, so copy-shop printing costs about double what the other patterns do.
- The fits-bust ranges are 82 to 88, 87 to 93, 92 to 98, 97 to 103, 103 to 109 and 111 to 117 cm, XS to XXL, matching the Draped Cowl-Neck Shell.
