Outerwear
Zip up jackets cut boxy and short, closer to a vintage outdoor jacket than a modern athletic fit. Both patterns here are drafted to layer over a sweatshirt, so the chest measurements are generous by design. Read the finished measurements on each page before sizing up.
The Fleece Zip-Up has a stand collar, welted front pockets and a contrast sleeve option, and takes polar fleece or sherpa between 300 and 400 gsm. The Raglan Zip-Up runs the sleeve straight into an extended neckline and hood for a soft, rounded shoulder, and takes mid weight fleece or French terry.
Both are marked beginner and both use a separating zip. The zip length changes with the size, and each pattern page lists which length you need. Sizes run XS to XXL with 1 cm seam allowance throughout.
Sewing a zip into knit fabric is covered in seam allowance and finishing. For what goes underneath, see the tops patterns, and the accessories for the beanie.
